COVID infections on the rise, 1.648 new cases in 24 hours

In the last 24 hours, our country has registered 1.648 new infections, whereas 5 citizens have unfortunately died due to complications from COVID-19.

The number of new cases has been on the rise, following the spread of the Omicron variant in our country.

New cases were confirmed after results came back on a total of 7.812 tests, which also reported on 309 recoveries. Since the outbreak of the pandemic in Albania, there has been a total of 202.386 known recoveries.

There are currently 9.286 active cases in our country, 106 of whom have been hospitalized and 12 are in serious conditions.

The ministry of health has continued its appeals to citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible.

Every citizen over the age of 16 can get a vaccine in our country, in any of the vaccination centers closest to them.

Vaccination is also open to children over the age of 12 who suffer from auto-immune diseases if they can provide a doctor’s recommendation. Adults over the age of 18, who have received their second dose sometime in the last 6 months can also get their third booster shots.

In addition, the ministry of health has reported that along with other restrictive measures, masks are required in all indoor spaces.
