Democrat MP Oerd Bylykbashi was openly against the decision of the leader of the Democratic Party to expel Sali Berisha from the parliamentary group.

On Euronews Now with Erla Mehilli, Bylykbashi said that Lulzim Basha’s decision damaged the Democratic Party, and “violated the statute”, especially since it took away the “one member one vote” principle.

“I don’t see it as a decision that did well to the DP”, said Bylykbashi. “The one member one vote mechanism cannot kill off the members’ right to vote”.

“It is imperative that all of us together, the leader and every member, unites around the only element that brings us together, apart from the statute. The ballot box has never divided people, and then comes the other rule of democracy, majority wins”, he emphasized.

On Wednesday, Bylykbashi was seen at an activity organized by Sali Berisha in Durres. He explained that he participated as the MP of Durres, and to see the options that the party has.

“I am not an analyst. I was elected as an MP in Durres, and I went to hear out what other options does the Democratic Party have in order to come out of this bigger, stronger, and more united. Then, it is up to the presidency to decide what the next steps are”, he said.
