The leaders of the main opposition parties in Kosovo met today with the US Deputy Assistant Secretary Matthew Palmer and the US Ambassador to Pristina Philip Kosnett to discuss the current political situation, dialogue with Serbia as well as bilateral economic projects.

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) Lumir Abdixhiku was accompanied by former PM Avdullah Hoti and Lutfi Hazirin, while thanking the representatives for “continuous support”.

Abdixhiku emphasized that the US is the main ally in the consolidation of Kosovo as a state. In a press release, LDK informed that it had presented its stance on the dialogue process.

Meanwhile, the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Enver Hoxhaj said that he had called on the US “to take a greater role in the dialogue with Serbia” while considering the country as “Kosovo’s strategic partner”.

The EU’s Envoy on the dialogue Miroslav Lajcak and the US Deputy Assistant Secretary Matthew Palmer will hold a joint press conference on June 1 at 10:45.

On Tuesday, Palmer will meet with the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo Ramush Haradinaj.

On the other hand, all these three opposition parties have affirmed that a meeting with Lajcak will not take place as it has not been requested by any of the sides.
