With 76 votes in favor, Parliament approved the budget for the next year, at least in principle.

After 2 days of heated debates and long hours of back-and-forth discussions in Parliament, Socialist legislators gave the green light to the budget but without the votes of the opposition.

The latter fought against it, considering it not helpful to Albanian citizens. This is why Democratic MP Belind Kellici has come up with a list of 6 proposals.

“Reduce the fiscal burden because prices are reaching stratospheric levels. Don’t act like an omniscient, listen to experts in the field and the citizens of this country. Remove the VAT tax for companies investing in renewable energy. Eliminate the gas excise for industrial producers. Stop the unstoppable rise of inflation. If possible, keep a single promise and bring up the education budget to 5.5% as promised”, said the democratic MP.

Minister of Defense Niko Peleshi replied to Kellici.

“Maybe the opposition didn’t have enough time and energy to prepare. We didn’t hear any alternatives until today, we only heard speculations”, said Peleshi.

Socialist MP Erion Brace called on the government to not cut this year’s budget for agriculture since many farmers have not received the oil subsidy.
