Kosovo President Vjosa Osmani said during an interview for CNN on Thursday that the conflict in Ukraine may extend to other parts of the world, including Europe.

In the interview with renowned journalist and host Christiane Amanpour she compared the war in Ukraine to what happened in Kosovo in 1999.

“The images coming from Ukraine, the innocent people, remind me of what we went through”, said Osmani.

According to the President of Kosovo, Russia is trying to destabilize the Western Balkans through Serbia, calling the latter ‘its satellite’.

“Serbia continues to see the countries of the Western Balkans as temporary countries”, Osmani said. “We’re here to stay as independent, sovereign and vibrant democratic nations.”

Osmani added that it is impossible to have peace in Europe without the Western Balkan countries in the bloc.

She also spoke about the crimes committed by Serbs during the war in Kosovo and mentioned her recent visit to the village of Poklek.

Osmani said that children were left to burn while still alive at a house in this village.
