Today, PM Edi Rama spoke to mayors about the issues currently present in the water supply sector, which he deemed to have become a ‘gangrene’.
Rama declared that back in 2014, the government made investments and accorded funds to partners at the amount of €1 billion euros in this sector.
Rama also criticized the mayor of Vlora, Dritan Leli, saying that this municipality has registered a 78.9% deficit in this sector, the highest amount on a municipality level.
In addition, in regards to the municipality of Kavaja, the prime minister emphasized that there is a 70% deficit and only 30% in receivables.
“How can these many water supply directors be at work; we have an entire army-worth of public workers in our water supply directories,” – said Rama.
The head of state also emphasized that the ministry should intervene immediately in order to build an interactive process of collaboration with our partners and mayors, in order to completely reorganize the water supply system.
