Today, the new Parliamentary session begun after the year-end holidays, a session that had only the swearing in of the new Minister of Economy, Culture and Innovation, Blendi Gonxhe, as an important item on the agenda.

But the new parliamentary session started the same way it ended, with a clash between the opposition and the majority.

The opposition MPs blocked the pulpit by holding placards with the inscription “Assembly of men, not whores”, since at the start of the session, the opposition MPs have started to prevent its normal development, blowing whistles, while lined up in the pulpit.

Gazmend Bardhi demanded the removal of the guard, while he debated with the Speaker of the Parliament, Lindita Nikolla.

Amidst these tensions, the decrees of the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, for changes in the Government were approved. Also, Plarent Ndreca was sworn in as a deputy in the Assembly, where he entered the seat left vacant by the former minister Arben Ahmetaj, who has been declared wanted.

President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, was expected to deliver his speech, with the presence of representatives of foreign embassies. Unable to deliver his message at the opening of the parliamentary session from the Parliament hall, Begaj will deliver this message to the Albanians from the Presidency at 18.00.

The first to arrive at the Parliament were the ambassador of the United Kingdom, Alastair King-Smith, and the ambassador of Germany, Karl Bergner.

At the Conference of Presidents, the Socialists alone approved the work calendar until February 8 for a number of important laws and initiatives that could not be passed during 2023.

The law on gambling, criminal amnesty, salaries of constitutional judges, but also changes in the Criminal Code are just some of the issues that have been included in the work calendar for these 3 weeks.

In this resumption of the parliamentary session, special attention will also be given to the debate on the Electoral Reform, an issue on which in recent days Prime Minister Rama has clashed with statements from some of the leaders of the opposition.
