The indexation of pensions has brought dissatisfaction among pensioners.
They consider the 4.1% increase insufficient, being negligible in the costs they have on a daily basis.
“Aren’t you ashamed that you keep your pensions in your mouth, where are they… Nothing, I didn’t get 4 lek, I don’t even want it at all,… I got 80, he put 4 lek, he left 84,” says the pensioner, Caje.
Over 800,000 pensions have benefited from the increase.
Urban old-age pensions increased by 752 ALL, while rural pensions have an average increase of 453 ALL. So the social pension goes to about 9700 ALL per month.
Mother Caje has worked all her life in the cooperative.
Shee saw retirement as a reward for all those years of work.
But the reality turned out to be different from what she thought.
Pensioners are disappointed with these decisions, stating that they will show their indignation by voting.
“I worked in a cooperative and I worked for 100 lek then and now, thankfully, we retired. I am so angry this time and we have voted for it many times and it is mocking us, it is a mockery, it is not a pension,” says mother Caje.
