Perparim Rama officially sworn in as mayor of Prishtina

This morning, Perparim Rama got officially appointed to be in charge of Prishtina’s municipality.

The inaugurating ceremony, where the members of the new Communal Assembly of Prishtina will be sworn in along with the new mayor, took place today at 10:00 a.m. in Prishtina.

At the end of the inauguration, the ceremony continued with the official transfer of power from the previous mayor of Prishtina, Shpend Ahmeti onto the new mayor, Perparim Rama.

Rama entered the race for Prishtina’s City Hall, as a representative of the Democratic Alliance of Kosovo (LDK).

During the first round of voting for Kosovo’s local elections, which were held on October 17, Perparim Rama was the second most voted candidate, whereas first place was held by Arben Vitia from LVV (Self-Determination Movement).

However, during the runoffs, held on November 14, the result was overthrown.

Rama won 41 thousand and 746 votes or (50.98%) of votes, whereas Vitia won a total of 40 thousand and 143 votes or (49.02%).
