The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, who on Friday in Brussels met the head of European diplomacy, Josep Borell, said that he was not told that there will be an invitation to a high-level meeting in the European capital.
Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić, who met the High Representative on Sunday in Munich, said “he expects to receive an invitation to a meeting in Brussels in the coming days and hopes for a solution.”
Kurti further added that he will go to Brussels to sign the agreement with Serbia, if he is invited to do so.
“I do this for the European Union, but I also do it because we must have normal relations with Serbia. As for me, these would be normalized as early as last year, but if it was not done in February and March of last year, it can be done in February and March of 2024, and why not in the meeting that I had in Munich in the framework of Security Conference”, said Kurti.
“With the high representative of the European Union, Josep Borrell, we have discussed the topics of dialogue and the importance of signing the agreement, but I have not been told that there will be an invitation to a high-level meeting in Brussels”, he emphasized.
“I am generally positive, but I reiterate that the violations so far and the disrespects that Serbia has made so far, which culminated in the letter of Prime Minister Brnabič, on December 13 of last year, where she practically withdrew from the agreement saying that he never accepts neither the independence of Kosovo nor the seat in the United Nations organization, nor does he respect our territorial integrity, they are practically canceled by signature”, said Kurti.
“The moment Serbia would sign the agreement, all those previous violations are canceled and legal certainty is created for the way forward. So, both in the sense of the bitter past and in the sense of the bright future, the signing appears to me as a necessity, and I hope that this will be done this spring, since it was not done in that past”, said the Prime Minister of Kosovo.
