Prime Minister Edi Rama said on Monday that the war in Ukraine led to an overall increase in prices, including construction material.
In a press conference from the Prime Ministry, Rama listed this as one of the reasons why the reconstruction of the National Theater is currently stalling.
According to the Albanian prime minister, the problem lies behind the implementation of the project as companies cannot compete with the existing manual in face of increased prices.
“We’re currently reviewing the manual that we have for this purpose as it is pointless to invite companies to compete in a race that is de facto more expensive from what has been outlined in the existing manual”
Among other factors listed by PM Rama was the earthquake that struck Albania in November 2019 and the pandemic.
Rama also said that the government is working on finding a solution and that the theater will be restored based on the plan.
