Big companies should seriously start thinking about investing in self-generating energy, without claiming to become producers for the entire Albanian power system.

The Albanian premier’s statement came during a meeting on Wednesday with traders.

Rama asserted that the energy crisis is becoming worse by the day.

“Things are starting to get worse by the day in the daily overview of power supply. All countries are in a completely unpredictable situation due to the rising energy prices. The basic problem is not about the increased price, but the lack of energy, going to the market and finding none. We’ve undertaken something to maintain a normal supply in a time of hardship for all, that is not to increase the price of electricity for households”.

The Prime Minister maintained that Albania’s flour ‘meets the conditions to be exported’ and said that claims about the low quality of bread made in Albania are ‘groundless’.

Rama also spoke about wheat imports, saying that the country does not depend on ‘opening trade channels with Serbia, as it has been pretended’.

Thanks to the Open Balkan initiative, Serbia allows exports to Albania and North Macedonia, said the prime minister.
