Prime Minister Edi Rama admitted that the price of oil in Albania is the highest in the region however, he said that the country has the lowest taxes.

In his Thursday parliamentary address, Rama responded to Democrat MP Jorida Tabaku that Albania is the only country in the region where small business does not pay taxes and VAT on turnover up to 100 million Albanian Lek.

“It is true that we have the highest price of fuel in the region. But, unlike the rest of the region, we have the lowest taxes, because unlike in the region, we don’t take a single cent from small business”.

“Zero taxes and zero VAT charges on businesses with turnover up to 100 million Albanian Lek. Unlike in the region, we tax big business more, but we also fully subsidize electrical power”, Rama said.

The Board of Transparency decided on Wednesday to raise the price of oil to 258 Lek per liter.

Meanwhile, the price for gasoline was set at 243 Lek per liter and gas at 86 Lek per liter.
