The Prime Minister of North Macedonia, Zoran Zaev, is on an official visit to Sofie in a bid to clear his country’s integration process.
Zaev met former PM Bojko Borisov, interim premier Stefan Janev, while in the afternoon he will be on his way to meet with President Rumen Radev.
Euronews Albania correspondent in Skopje, Benjamin Arifi, said that Zaev is moving forward with concrete proposals aiming to extend the deadline of the bilateral issues and “decoupling” them from North Macedonia’s integration process.
Furthermore, Arifi says that there is an ongoing internal rift between Bulgarian politicians over North Macedonia.
Skopje is hopeful that it will succeed in sealing a deal on the brink of the EU summit due next week which will determine whether to hold the first Intergovernmental Conference between member states and North Macedonia.
