The literary creativity of women brought together poets from Albania and Greece in Tirana, in a cultural event that united literature and poetic art.
This event was organized by the Greek Embassy, focusing on strengthening cultural relations between the two countries and highlighting the influence of poetry on the international literary scene.
“Women today, both in Europe and worldwide, despite achievements and progress, have yet to fully attain the concept of gender equality. However, Albania has made significant efforts in recent years to promote gender equality in both political and private life. This is clearly visible in the composition of the government and relevant institutions where women hold influential positions. This year, our event aims to highlight another dynamic trend in a different field where women’s activity stands out in both Albania and Greece—literature. Their impact and role today are stronger than ever,” said the Greek Ambassador to Albania, Konstantina Kamitsi.
The main participants in the event were renowned poets from Albania and Greece, who, through poetry, offered a powerful form of expression, bringing forth feelings of freedom, passion, and the challenges women face in daily life, as well as the influence they can have on society through art and creativity.
The poets emphasized the importance of focusing on the role of women in shaping an authentic literary voice, with poetry serving as a tool to raise awareness of social issues.
Additionally, the evening featured the promotion of the poetry anthology The Other Half of the Sky, translated by Maklena Nika, which is a collection of works from 160 Greek poets of the 20th and 21st centuries.
