On Friday, July 5, the 15th opposition protest is expected to take place in front of Municipality of Tirana.

The State Police informs that it has taken organizational and operational measures to guarantee public order and safety during the development of a rally requested by the “Alliance for the Protection of the Theater”, the next day, on July 5, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.: 00, near the Municipality of Tirana.

In implementation of the plan of measures, the State Police announces that, tomorrow, from 09:30 onwards, there will be a temporary blockage of the circulation of vehicles, on the main boulevard near the Municipality of Tirana. For this reason, we suggest that alternative routes be used until the end of the rally, such as the Middle Ring and the Great Ring.

During several previous gatherings, held by the Alliance for the Protection of the Theatre, in the square in front of the Tirana City Hall, repeated cases of opposition to the police forces, the use and throwing of Molotov cocktails and other objects were recorded,  in the direction of the Municipality of Tirana, seriously endangering the lives and health of the police officers and the participants in the gatherings.

The Tirana Local Police Directorate fully respects the right of citizens to organize and participate in peaceful gatherings.

The police repeat the call to the organizers, leaders and participants in the gatherings to respect the law and distance themselves from any act of violence.
