Journalist Mentor Kikia said that investigations into the spectacular robbery of housemaid Rozeta Dobi should not focus more on how the money was stolen, but rather on whom this money actually belongs to and what their true source is.
In an interview, for Euronews Albania, Kikia raised the alarm about the fact that such a preposterous event reveals a great suspicion about the alleged abuse that high public officials may have conducted through their positions of power.
“Clean money could have been put in the bank, so if someone possessed clean money they wouldn’t have left it at home. The news is not that a woman robbed the house she was working at, but the fact that this sheds light on a criminal act that falls on a high-level public official belonging to the administration level who has to declare her wealth. There are people in this country who keep very large sums of money at home that do not come from legitimate sources. The biggest investigation is not to find out how the theft was carried out, but that high-level officials possess this money whose origin is unknown”, said Kikia.
