President Bajram Begaj is expected to announce the date of the next local elections by Thursday, October 27.
The electoral code stipulates that the President decrees the date of the elections no later than 9 months from the end of the mandate, which coincides with the end of October. The end of the mandate of the mayors in office is July 27, the date when the CEC, 4 years ago, officially announced the results of the 2019 local elections.
The head of state must decree a date between April 15 and May 15. Meanwhile, political parties have decided on the date of May 14 as their proposal to President Begaj.
