President Ilir Meta has decreed the proposals of Prime Minister Edi Rama for changes to the cabinet.
The Head of State decreed the appointment of Olta Xhacka as new Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs as well as Niko Peleshi as the new Defense Minister.
Two days ago, the Acting Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Gent Cakaj stepped down on Tuesday, handing in his resignation to Prime Minister Edi Rama, who immediately after announced changes in the government.
The first changes in government came in September when Besa Shahini was replaced by Evis Kushi as Minister of Education, Sports and Youth. In December, after several protests over the fatal murdering of 25-year-old Klodian Rasha, the Minister of Interior also announced his resignation. Bledi Cuci was later appointed as Albania’s Minister of Interior.
