President Bajram Begaj decreed today the appointment of Adea Pirdeni to the position of Minister of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption.

The appointment follows the proposal of Prime Minister Edi Rama, who argued that “in this new phase of the country’s development and under the conditions when Albania is working on the negotiation chapters for EU accession, a new approach to public administration is needed”.

According to the Prime Minister, this is to increase competitive salaries and the quality of human resources.

Regarding the creation of the position of Minister of State for Public Administration and Anticorruption, Rama argued that “Government anti-corruption policies need to be better harmonized among executive institutions, with the urgencies of the challenging negotiation process with the EU for all state institutions, as well as with civil society and business itself”.

Adea Pirdeni has held the role of Deputy Minister of Justice and Deputy Chief Negotiator with the European Union for the past three years, covering the major chapter of the Judiciary and Fundamental Rights.
