Albanian President Ilir Meta addressed a letter to the Constitutional Court ahead of its decision on his impeachment.
Meta wants the court to provide evidence of how it came to choose the judge that took over his impeachment from the parliament.
In addition, Meta outlined three points to the Constitutional Court, starting from the decision to suspend the decision.
Also, Meta seeks an explanation over the ‘expiration of a 3-month legal deadline to oversee the case’.
In a recent interview for Euronews Albania, President Meta said he would appeal the case if the court upholds the parliament’s decision on his impeachment.

“Let them discharge me. I have no problem with that”, said Meta, threatening to bring his case to a European court, although without making any specifications.
The Constitutional Court will announce its decision on February 1.
Initially, the court was supposed to have its say on 18 January, but the case got postponed as one of the judges was diagnosed with COVID-19.
The Albanian president was impeached by the parliament on June 9 after he overturned a decree on the date of the local elections.
Socialist lawmakers claimed at the time that the president had “flagrantly infringed the Constitution’ and that his “acts, behavior and messages conveyed failed to guarantee national unity” and incited violent riots led by party militants which “terrorized citizens and limited their freedoms”.
