The President of the Republic, Ilir Meta just cast his ballots a few minutes after polling stations all over the county officially opened. Meta called for massive participation in the voting process, while inviting citizens to besides voting for their party of preference to also vote for the candidate for MP they believe will fight corruption and won’t submit to the party leader.

“At last, this blessed day is here, this marvelous day, even God has helped us out today and made it possible for the sovereign people to have the perfect conditions to express their will and for our republic to revive its foundations through the free vote of every citizen. Our equality in front of the law is only guaranteed by the equality of our vote. Every citizen should vote freely and with dignity and this time, they have the chance to vote for who they believe in. Let them choose the most honest candidate, with the most integrity,” declared the Head of State.

The President added that participation in this voting process is a “civil duty and a democratic right, today it is a patriotic act,” and continued by saying that “today, the nation is protected through the vote and through a European civil behavior”.

“An upright outcome of this process will convince Europe for accession in the EU. Vote for the one in your mind and heart, for the candidates that fight corruption and don’t obey to their leaders like puppets,” concluded Meta.
