The President of Kosovo and foreign affairs minister met NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at the UN Assembly.
Recent developments in Kosovo and dialogue with Serbia were the main topics discussed.
President Vjosa Osmani stated that Kosovo has implemented the Brussels agreement, referring to free movement, and denounced Serbia’s actions.
Tensions between Kosovo and Serbia have been on the rise, since when PM Albin Kurti decided to implement the reciprocity principle, requiring all vehicles with Serbian license plates to change them for provisory Kosovar ones when crossing the border.
During the Security Council meeting held on Tuesday in Belgrade, President Aleksandar Vucic discussed what he called a “criminal action from Pristina”, and guaranteed to preserve security and stability for all the Serb minorities in Kosovo.
The Serbian President rejected an invitation to find a solution through compromise.
A few hours later, the EU special envoy for the dialogue Miroslav Lajcak expressed his concerns on Twitter and called for restraint.
According to Kurti, Serbia is the one to be blamed for the decision.
