Once again, the price of bread has started to go up.
Since the first rise by 10 ALL a few months ago, it has now up by another 30 ALL (or €0.24 euros).
“At the moment, it’s gone up by 30 ALL and the trend is on the rise because we are directly dependent on flour, and flour is getting more expensive,” – said the owner of a bakery shop.
This situation is forcing customers to add bread to the list of food products they would usually put on a tab.
“We’re feeling the pressure lately as customers come to us and ask for a tab. We feel bad… we can’t send them away because it’s bread,”- he added.
From a quick look in several bakeries across Tirana, we noticed a 20-30 ALL rise in the usual price of bread.
“We’ve definitely felt it” – said a citizen who just got her loaf of bread. – “It’s gone up by 30 ALL in a single day”.
