In order to investigate the breach of personal data, SPAK has ordered the Albanian news outlet “Lapsi.al” to submit all the files it has in its possession.
But citing source confidentiality, the executives of the news outlet are refusing to hand in the data.
Euronews Albania journalist Eni Ferhati said that SPAK has cleared the path to seize the materials.
“It remains to be seen whether the chairmen of the portal will submit the database themselves or whether officers from the Judicial Police together with IT experts will go to the premises of Lapsi.al to seize the database”, explained Ferhati on the two potential scenarios.
Ferhati added that SPAK has also reached out to the AKEP, the country’s electronic communication authority, to take down all the websites that had access to this data.
Sources told Euronews Albania that AKEP removed a webpage where citizens were able to search for their so-called “patrons”.
