The Basic Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade said that with the evidence collected so far, there is no indication that there is convincing and clear evidence that the Serbian oppositionist, Nikola Sandulović, has been ill-treated.

The Prosecutor’s Office said that due to information published in certain media regarding the alleged ill-treatment of Sandulović on January 3 by members of the Security and Information Agency (BIA), this institution started gathering evidence.

“Among other things, from the information of the Military Medical Academy – Neurology Clinic, which is dated January 4, it is clear that [the doctors] did not find any physical injuries”, the announcement said.

A day earlier, the BIA rejected claims that the leader of the opposition entity, Nikola Sandulović, was subject to torture, saying that no illegal physical force was used against him.
