The police responded to the opposition’s request for the organization of tomorrow’s protest, stressing that it undertakes to guarantee gatherings that do not block the free movement of vehicles and citizens.
In the police announcement distributed to the police media, it is stated that ‘blocking road axes is a criminal offense provided for by Article 293 of the Criminal Code and anyone who will take action to block the roads will face the consequences of violating this article’.

Representatives of the political entity Democratic Party of Albania have submitted the request for the development of gatherings, from 17:00 to 20:00 on 29.10.2024, on some main road axes in the country, specifically: “Tirana-Durrës”, near the Kamza overpass; “Durrës-Tirana”, near the Shkozeti overpass; “Kashar-Milot”, near the intersection of Milot; “Elbasan-Tirana”, at the Bradashes roundabout; “Durrës-Fier”, at the roundabout of Rrogozhina and “Levan-Tepelen”, at the roundabout of Levan.
The State Police guarantees the right to assembly, the rights and freedoms of participants in assemblies, but without infringing the free movement of citizens and vehicles.
Based on and in implementation of the Law “On Gatherings”, the State Police has undertaken all measures to guarantee public order, the implementation of the rights and freedoms of citizens and participants in gatherings, as well as the protection of public and private property.
Based on the object of the request made for the development of gatherings on some road axes, the State Police has replied to the organizers that it undertakes the guarantee of gatherings that do not block the free movement of vehicles and citizens.
Blocking road axes is a criminal offense provided for by Article 293 of the Criminal Code, and anyone who takes action to block roads will face the consequences of violating this article.
In the meantime, in order to come to the aid of the citizens who will travel on the above road axes, the State Police has taken measures to divert the traffic of vehicles to alternative roads in case of blockage.
