The Public Transit Association is set to hold a meeting with the Municipality of Tirana during the day, to discuss their concerns about the issues facing their sector and present a list of demands.
The deputy chair of the association, Fatjon Kasamaj told Euronews Albania today, that they are determined and won’t back down until their conditions are met.
“There are three key parts to what we are demanding: the first, is lowering the threshold for the VAT tax from the current 20% to 6%, the second is removing the excise tax and lastly, the vehicle circulation tax,” – said Kasamaj.
In addition, Kasamaj made a public appeal to the City of Tirana, including local and central government agencies, to find a feasible solution and help this sector emerge from the present chaos.
Kasamaj also added that if these demands are met, the public transit system in Tirana will see improvements, but on the off chance that they aren’t, they could be forced to bring up the price of tickets and bus fares.
