After the recommendation of the country’s coronavirus task force group, known as the Technical Experts’ Committee, to impose a two-week quarantine for citizens coming from Greece and North Macedonia, and later on, adopted by the Albanian government, the Socialist Movement for Integration decided to follow legal proceedings as it opposed the order.

The SMI submitted a lawsuit at the Administrative Court of First Instance of Tirana asking for the annulment of this order describing it as “absurd”, “arbitrary” and “flagrant violation of the Constitution.

The Technical Experts’ Committee recommended a two-week quarantine for all the citizens entering the Albanian territory from Greece and North Macedonia.

The measure is expected to stay in force until May 3.

According to the deputy health minister, Mira Rakacolli, the decision was taken amid rising daily infection in the neighboring countries.
