Albania is turning into a new tourist attraction by promoting itself not only in European countries but also further in Latin American countries.

In the “Flasim” podcast where an Albanian-Lebanese couple was invited, Prime Minister Edi Rama spoke about Albania’s participation in the international tourism fair in Madrid, highlighting that the country was also being promoted at the stands of Argentina and Chile.

“We were at the tourism fair in Madrid. In the stands, in those spaces of Argentina, of Chile, there were photos of Berat, Ksamil. And their operators at the stands of Argentina and Chile were saying one of the new destinations is Albania,” he said.

Meanwhile, Rama said that the focus now is on mountain tourism.

“On the other hand, it was very clear, because we are fixated on the sea and the beach, while the mountains of Albania are an extraordinary part of our wealth. They have started to be discovered, and there are many people who go there. The problem is that we still don’t have the quality, hotels, infrastructure in those areas, and even the few that exist are full. The more there are, the more will be needed,” Rama explained.

On social media networks, Rama also shared the experience of tourists who have visited Albania and will return to enjoy the country again.

Rama expressed that they are the best example of a completely new stage for Albanian tourism as a prestigious business card for presenting Albania to the world and as an economic development engine as well.

“I really hope that Albania will be my next destination because the more I see of Albania, the more I want to go, especially to its wonderful mountains,” said one young person.

Another foreign tourist confirmed that she will travel to the country this summer, especially interested in the beaches, archaeological sites, and the heritage of historical cities.

“We fell in love from our trip to Albania because it seemed like a very beautiful destination to us, with wonderful cities like Berat. We really liked the Albanian Alps; they were my favorite part, but the beaches in the south were also wonderful. So, we recommend you to visit Albania,” said two other tourists.

Another young person said he had stayed in Albania for three months as a digital nomad, and for him, Albania has become a favorite place, with its untouched authentic nature, wild in the north, but also with the food as well.

In addition to food, nature, and beaches, a young couple also appreciate Tirana with its nightlife.

During 2023, Albania was visited by 10.1 million tourists.
