Rama and Basha in a tight race over Prime Minister’s seat – unveils Political Barometer

The two main leaders in the country, Edi Rama and Lulzim Basha, are in a tight race to win the votes of the Albanian people at the parliamentary polls due on the 25 of April, according to the electoral survey conducted by Euronews Albania in collaboration with the prestigious company MRB.

As days to head to the ballots, which will provide the final say of the people, are drawing in the same appears to be happening with the positive attitude of citizens towards the leaders of the main political parties.

47% of the respondents that participated in the fourth national survey said that they had a positive opinion about the incumbent prime minister and leader of the Socialist Party Edi Rama.

On the other hand, 44.4% expressed their support for the leader of the opposition and of the Democratic Party, Lulzim Basha.

The chair of the Socialist Movement for Integration, Monika Kryemadhi, ranked third with 16.7% of respondents giving a positive opinion about her.

In comparison to the three previous surveys, Basha’s score grew by 9% from January results, while preference for PM Rama was marked by a slight drop and the same happening for the SMI leader.

Asked specifically on whom they’d prefer at the top of the governmental cabinet, Albanians supported Rama by 44.1% and Basha by 38.9%.

Compared to preceding surveys, support for both leaders over the Prime Minister’s post has increased, most notably a considerable 10% rise for opposition’s Basha, as opposed to a smaller increase of nearly 2% for PM Rama.

Methodology

The National Survey assesses 2.500 interviews during the period 17-31 of March in rural and urban areas in Albania.
