Prime Minister Edi Rama held a rally in Pogradec on Monday, urging voters to support the European passport project on May 11—something he claimed can only be achieved through the Socialist Party.

Rama called on Democratic Party supporters to vote as Socialist supporters did in March 1992, placing their children’s future above all else.

“I ask Democrats to do what the Socialists did in March ’92. If they are parents, let them vote for their children—to give them a European passport. So that one day their children will say: ‘My mom and dad voted for this passport. They made a big sacrifice. They voted for someone like Edi Rama.’ Let them say whatever they want about me, but vote number 5. If they can’t bring themselves to do that, then do what I did in March ’92—I didn’t vote at all. Not for anyone,” Rama stated.

“Not voting means clearing the way for the majority. I joined those who cleared the path for Albania. Let them do the same. But don’t show up just to wait in line and then throw your vote into the swamp.”

He further added, “Ordinary Democrats should do one good deed—not the foolish ones who walk around with owls in tents. The owl stays above the swamp; they remain beneath it. A desperate, hopeless person, who’s lost his way. He’s not even on the metro,” Rama concluded.
