This Friday, Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding a meeting with the mayors in Lalez Bay to discuss the local elections.
The meeting is taking place behind closed doors. In this meeting, it is expected that a balance will be made of the work of mayors and the plans they have in mind for the cities they lead.
So far, Edi Rama has given the green light for re-election to some of the mayors.
The biggest electoral battle will take place in Tirana, and for this reason, the socialist chief sees no other substitute, except Erion Veliaj for a third term.
Pjerin Ndreu is another candidate who is expected to receive the support of the Socialist chief in Lezha.
In his public appearances, Rama has positively evaluated the work of the mayors in the cities of Cerrik and Saranda, where Andis Salla and Adrian Gurma are expected to be reconfirmed in the race for mayor.
Another current mayor who is expected to run again is Elton Arbana in Shijak.
Rama is expected to reconfirm most of the mayors who ran in the March 6 elections. One of them is Rahim Spahiu as the mayor of Dibra.
But among the names waiting for a positive answer there are also those who have publicly confirmed that they will not be entrusted with another mandate.
Such is the case of Dritan Leli in Vlora who is ending his mandate by severing relations with the Socialist Party due to constant clashes with Prime Minister Rama.
