Prime Minister Edi Rama attended a meeting today with the Socialist Party units 5, 6, 13, and 14 in Tirana. During his speech, Rama highlighted the achievements of the Socialist government in the economy, emphasizing the pensioners’ bonus and the reduction of electricity prices by 1 lek.

“When we took office, a small business was considered one with a turnover of 30,000 euros; today, it is up to 140,000 euros in turnover without taxes. How do we go from a pensioners’ bonus of 50,000 old lek to the year-end bonus we just provided? How can we afford to give two consecutive bonuses? Because the economy allows us to. We don’t wait for money to come. These are funds collected from work. Are they enough? No. But they are more than before. Along this path, there are many reasons for us to feel good about the progress we have made.

We had an energy system that, just a decade ago, if you wanted to hold this meeting at this time of day, you would have needed the company of a generator. And when you stepped outside, all you could hear were generators. Fifty percent of the population was not paying for electricity. Today, we have reached 100% collection.

And on the other hand, we have made the first reduction in electricity prices since 1990. The price drops by 1 lek from 9 lek, not by 1 lek from 1,000 lek. It is a 10.5% reduction. This, in every kilowatt, in the end, makes a difference for a pensioner or a low-income family,” Rama stated.
