Voting trends in the county of Durres were discussed tonight during “Political Barometer” on Euronews Albania.

The vice-Mayor of the city of Tirana, Arbjan Mazniku claimed that this county has for 14 years in a row supported SP with diligence.

“Since 2007, Durres has systematically voted for the Socialist Party. 14-15 years, it’s a new history, in 4 electoral cycles it has chosen left. 14 years is enough to be able to claim political stability. Durres has voted right until 2003, but for the next 14 years it hasn’t.”

Journalist Neritan Sejamini on the other hand, stated that Durres has had a history of overthrowing with votes. He mentioned 2005, where the Democratic Party had a significant win against SP.

“Durres is one of the cities that has as times, achieved total overthrow. In 2005, DP crushed the SP,” he added.

While the professor and president of IDMC, Jonida Godole stated that Durres might give the DP a chance to grow, but it all depends on the progress of the campaign.

“The opposition might grow even more in Durres, but we will have to see how the campaign will progress,” said Godole.
