Our young activist, Diana Mjeshtri asked the candidates regarding the opportunities available for young people to make a career in politics and how represented are they really in the electoral lists of April 25th?

SP’s take:

SP’s candidate, Andi Bushati started off by saying that in various counties, there are young candidates, running for the first time and their selection was made through the application “the MP we want”, set up by the Socialist Party.

Bushati continued by saying that in this platform there have been around 1500 applications from the entire nation.

The activist replied by saying that the selection method is wrong as being an MP is a life mission, not a job.

Mjeshtri also added that some of the younger candidates are positioned at the end of SP’s lists.

Bushati replied by saying that SP is the only party offering this format, when DP has almost the same lists as in 2017. He mentioned the platform FRESSH as well as the fact that SP has given Albania a 30-year-old prime minister [referring to Ilir Meta].

DP’s take:

The DP candidate, Aldo Bumci continued by saying that young people are massively returning to the Democratic Party. Bumci said that the youth is disappointed by the governing of the past 8 years and has found hope in the DP.

“The great news in these elections is the return of the youth to DP. The Democratic party was founded by the youth, students in the 90s. They took matters into their own hands and overthrew the harshest dictatorship in Europe,” said Bumci.
