Anyone is entitled to run for the leadership of the Democratic Party and the only democratic mechanism that will pick the right candidate is the voting process, said Arben Ristani during an interview for Euronews Albania on Wednesday.
Asked about host Jonida Shehu on the chances that any candidate against Berisha, the former general secretary of the Democratic Party pointed to Alibeaj.
Ristani also explained the steps to choosing the new leader of Albania’s largest opposition party.
“The first voting is on the delegates of the Assembly. The Assembly convenes afterward and elects the National Council. The National Council will elect the presidency and together with the National Council it sets the date for the election of the party chairman,” Ristani explained.
Internal elections are carried out based on the concept of ‘one member-one vote’ and all Democrats are invited to participate in this important election.
