Russia says it will endorse the independence of Republika Srpska in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The declaration was made by the Russian Ambassador to Sarajevo, Igor Kalabukhov, who said “to see no problem” in the remarks made by Bosnian Serb leader Milorad Dodik.
Kalabukhov emphasized that the issue belongs to politicians and a democratic decision which Russia will endorse if it’s “achieved through dialogue”.
“All decisions must arise from dialogue and communication, where they need to find the best way to solve the situation”, said the Russian diplomat.
In addition, Russia does not recognize EU Special Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Christian Schmidt, claiming that his appointment was not made according to procedures.
The Russian Ambassador also said that in 2015, Moscow did not support the Resolution of Srebrenica at the UN Security Council organized by Britain as it “was not balanced”. According to him, the decision of The Hague is in question by Russia.
