“Our position is clear: we are not in favor of such formulas”.
With these words, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez expressed his opposition to the Italian-Albanian model for solving the migration issue.
“Albania’s model does not solve the problem, it even creates other problems. We are for a broader vision towards the issue of migration, supporting cooperation with the countries of origin, in support of regular migration”, declared Sanchez.
According to him, the Spanish proposal for migration is based on humanity.
“A controlled and responsible migration is the right answer to this problem that has engulfed Spain and Europe. our well-being depends on migration policies”, Sanchez said at the end of the EU Council meeting.
He added that the Spanish government has clear ideas regarding the migratory phenomenon.
“If we are no longer coherent with our principles, we will lose the moral war and we will also lose all of us as Europeans”, further underlined Sanchez.
Furthermore, the head of the Spanish government has criticized the approach of some countries such as Hungary to the issue of migration.
“Hungary has been holding European politics hostage for a long time. It is not responding to our needs,” added Sanchez.
