A lecturer at the Polytechnic University of Tirana, Klodian Dhoska, said that scientific research is almost impossible for him and his colleagues because they do not receive funds from the Board of Administration.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Dhoska underlined that a lecturer needs at least 1.500 euros to participate in a scientific conference.
“Regarding scientific research, there have been cases when the Board of Administration has said, we don’t have funds and each lecturer is entitled to 200-300 euros to make a scientific publication. To hold a conference, you need a minimum of 1.500 euros to participate. We have done more than what Kosovo has done, with our possibilities. But they are paid better, while we are the opposite”, he emphasized.
The teachers’ union has escalated the boycott, and a national protest will take place tomorrow.
Lecturers are also requesting the presence of students in this protest, which will take place in front of the building of the Central Corps of the Polytechnic University.
