Albania ranks second in the classification of the World Tourism Organization for the increase in the number of foreign visitors until September of this year.
The organization says that compared to 2019, the last year before the pandemic, the flow of foreigners who have visited our country is 18 percent more.
The figure is the second highest in the world ranking.
Until September, the number of foreign citizens who entered our country was higher than in 2019, but according to the figures published by INSTAT, in October of this year, about 365 thousand foreigners entered from the 387 thousand who were registered in 2019.
According to the World Tourism Organization, the Virgin Islands reported the biggest increase with 29 percent more than 2019. The organization says that the sector is expected this year to capture 65 percent of the figures recorded in 2019 globally.
Europe and the Middle East have been the main destinations. The Mediterranean in total has reached 86 percent of pre-pandemic levels.
