The villages of the Municipality of Selenicë have been known for decades for grape cultivation. This tradition, as the farmers themselves say, has been passed down from generation to generation. Farmers say they are satisfied with the prices at which they sell wine and rakia, emphasizing that there is no shortage of market demand for their products.
Alongside technological advancements, which have significantly helped wine and rakia production by increasing yields and easing the workload of each farmer, there are still many farmers in the area who produce rakia in a traditional, artisanal way. In these villages, we meet one such producer today, who preserves the tradition by making rakia using a copper still.
Hundreds of families in the villages of the Municipality of Selenicë make a living from grape cultivation and the production of wine and rakia. Although their number has decreased significantly year after year, this tradition continues to be passed down through generations, contributing to the development of the area’s local economy.
