Jovan Kostadinov, a 19-year-old from Vinica, has emerged as a hero in the wake of the tragic nightclub fire at Puls in Kočani, which claimed 59 lives and injured nearly 200 others.
Amidst chaos, fear, and panic, Jovan bravely rushed into the burning club, managing to rescue 21 young people from certain death.
On social media, people are praising him as the “silent hero” of this dark tragedy, calling on authorities to award him a medal for bravery.
“He was outside when the fire broke out, but he soaked his shirt in water, covered his face, and ran inside to save people,” one post read, according to TV Sitel.
A mother of a survivor shared a heartfelt message:
“In the darkest moments of panic and chaos, when everyone was terrified, Jovan became a beacon of hope. Without hesitation, he lifted my son—trapped under debris—onto his back and carried him through fire and smoke all the way to the hospital in Kočani to save his life.”
Currently, Jovan is being treated for smoke inhalation at the Toxicology Unit but is in stable condition. His courage and selflessness have touched the hearts of many, making him a true hero of this devastating tragedy.
