Their deal with Zoran Zaev’s SDSM has cost the ‘Alternative’ their partnership with the opposition party ‘Alliance for Albanians’.
Both Albanian parties had entered an agreement thereby entering the local elections as a coalition – a partnership, which was meant to continue well through the next parliamentary elections.
In a recent press conference, representatives from ‘Alliance for Albanians’ confirmed that they’d opted out of their parliamentary group with the ‘Alternative’ and that they will now be forming a separate group in parliament.
During yesterday’s general convention, the Albanian party ‘Alternative’, decided to opt-out of the opposition camp and join the ruling party in a Grand Coalition Government, with a majority of votes.
After several meetings between the acting prime minister Zoran Zaev and the party chair, Afrim Gashi, the agreement of collaboration between the Alterative and SDSM was ultimately signed, bringing the current majority in parliament to 64 MPs, which resolved the current hiatus that was otherwise going lead the country to snap elections.
