The Socialist Party will be holding its leadership meeting today, whose focus will be the local elections on May 14.
Euronews Albania journalist Eksiola Shehu reported that Prime Minister Rama has launched a tour of meetings with citizens throughout the country for several weeks now, from where he has also confirmed the names of several socialist candidates for mayor in the next election.
Among them, Erion Veliaj has been reconfirmed in Tirana, Flamur Golemi in Gjirokaster, Alma Hoxha in Permet, Elton Arbana in Shijak, Pjerin Ndreu in Lezha, and Andi Salla in Cerrik.
It is not known yet whether or not Rama is expected to reconfirm most of the current mayors. Dritan Leli will not be the trusted candidate of the Socialists in Vlora in the next election, whereas the current mayor of Mallakaster will also not be reconfirmed because SPAK has accused him of concealing a prior conviction in Greece.
