The Socialist Party MP Xhemal Qefalia, says that he has been critical of the state police, the municipal police and the IKMT regarding the way they acted regarding constructions without permission in urban and rural areas.
In an interview for Euronews Albania, Qefalia said that IKMT employees have often punished residents of rural areas for small housing repairs while turning a blind eye to illegal constructions in the middle of Tirana.
According to Qefalia, the fact that the majority and the prime minister established by law the issue of construction without permission in the capital shows the will of the government to put an end to this illegal phenomenon.
“In many cases, I have been critical of the state police, the municipal police and the IKMT, who act against the residents of rural areas for the construction of a roof while turning a blind eye to constructions in the middle of Tirana. It is a thing rightly established by the majority and the prime minister and regulated by law. We cannot generalize all the police here, but for those responsible, the punishment will be real. If they have been allowed knowingly, the decision to seize them would not have been made. The decision is that everyone is equal before the law. But even the justice system should not tolerate anyone who has profited illegally”, said Qefalia.
