After the incident reported on Monday evening that the secretary of the Democratic Party in Kavaja was shot by a citizen inside the premises of the party’s headquarters, political party leaders started trading accusations against each other.

In a video released on social media, the shooter Ndriçim Jonuzi explained the reasons behind the incident claiming the incident wasn’t politically motivated as he is a partisan of the opposition.

Prime Minister Edi Rama emphasized that the incident in Kavaja has no political background and despite the fact that Jonuzi professed to be with the Democratic Party, the party is at no fault over the incident, but for politicizing the situation.

“It is clear that the incident in Kavaja does not have a political motive. The author has no connection to the SP, on the contrary, he is a militant of the DP! The DP is not to be blamed for the incident but for the scandalous politicization of it. Lulëzim man up, part away from Iliri and Saliu and stop being the puppet of the wicked”, twitted Rama.

On the other side, the Democratic Party released a statement bringing to the attention the fact that PM Edi Rama prefers to deal with lies and manipulations while the suspect is at large. DP reiterated that Rama and his people are behind the incident and described the whole situation as “a criminal attack against democracy”.

“Edi Rama prefers to deal with lies and manipulations meanwhile the aggressor has not been arrested yet! There is no lie that can help Rama because all the facts prove that yesterday’s aggressor was one of his people and they acted with intent. This is a criminal attack against our democracy from a man that knows that he will lose the election. On Sunday we will win and we’ll bring the change that Albania needs”, said the DP in its statement.
