The Socialist Party in Albania has filed a criminal complaint against the Democratic Party deputy Bledion Nallbati, who, in the last plenary session, physically assaulted the Socialist Party deputy Vullnet Sinaj.

The criminal complaint has been signed by the head of the Socialist Parliamentary Group, Bledi Çuçi, who is requesting an investigation against Nallbati for the criminal offense of “Assault in the performance of duty”.

Through a social media post, Çuçi has made it clear that the majority’s stance is that they will not tolerate any act of violence in the parliament.

“Today, on behalf of the Parliamentary Group of the Socialist Party, I signed the criminal complaint against Deputy Bledion Nallbati for the physical violence he exerted in the last session against Deputy Vullnet Sinaj. Our stance is clear. We will not tolerate any act of violence, and we reject anyone who considers violence as a means to express disagreement. We invite the law enforcement agencies to do their job and thoroughly investigate the events of October 30 in Parliament,” writes the letter signed by Çuçi.

According to Article 237 of the Albanian Penal Code, assaults in the performance of duty are punishable by a fine or imprisonment of up to 3 years.

Due to the chaos and violence caused by the Democratic Party deputies in the session of October 30, the Ethics Committee decided to exclude Democrat MPs Bledion Nallbati, Flamur Noka, Edi Paloka, Albana Vokshi, and Gazment Bardhi for 10 days, and Saimir Korreshi for three days.
