Erla Mëhilli, an expert on communication sciences, said that the Socialist Party is basing its entire campaign on the vaccination campaign and the reconstruction process following the earthquake, meanwhile the focus of the Democratic Party is mainly on its rallies.
She also commented on the survey conducted by Euronews Albania and the prestigious company MRB.
According to her, the Democratic Party is seeing a rise by at least 10% in the district of Elbasan.
“On its heyday, the Democratic Party had equal results with the Socialist Party, back in 2009, so it wouldn’t be a surprise if it wins the seventh mandate, in case the Socialist Movement for Integration (SMI) does not receive any”, Mëhilli said.
Based on the statistics presented in the survey, the expert on communication said that the decline of SMI, from two to zero mandates, indicates clearly that the party will suffer from a similar drop in all other districts.
Mëhilli said that the Socialist Party continues to have the upper hand in Fier, where despite being skeptical about getting 11 mandates, asserted that even 10 are a satisfactory result.
“The Democratic Party will have to make a big come back in the district of central Albania, such as Tirana, Durres, and Elbasan. If the Socialist Party plays for a tie in these three districts, that would still be good”, Mëhilli.
The communication expert said during her interview on Euronews Albania that the Democratic Party has suffered a steady decline, which according to her should be taken into consideration and be subjected to a thorough assessment in order to understand the factors behind this.
Regarding the electoral rallies that have seen large citizen gatherings, the expert said that the DP must show prudence because it might be perceived negatively by undecided voters.
