We have an increase in the number of people investigated as well as convictions, compared to 2020.
This was one of the statements of SPAK Chief Arben Kraja while reporting on Friday in front of the parliamentary Committee on Legal Affairs.
Kraja also said to have used the monetary assets seized from offenders to set up labs.
“We set up labs for digital expertise with the money confiscated from criminal activities. We applied for the fund and bought the devices”, said Kraja.
“We hired the three best experts in the country and it became functional by the end of 2021”.
Taking aim at critics claiming SPAK is not punishing high-ranking officials, Kraja reiterated that ‘nobody can tell prosecutors’ who they should be probing into or not.
He added that the only way that the institution is put into motion is through criminal complaints.
